Happy Birthday, America!

Today is my favorite holiday! Happy Birthday, America! I'm overwhelmingly proud to be living the (almost) American Dream. I say almost because I'm not yet a citizen. My children are (half) first generation Americans, Scribs is a proud patriot and we are very grateful to be living where we live today and everyday.

The eagle flies at dawn
Pretty spectacular!

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!
O beautiful for pilgrim feet,
Whose stern impassion’d stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!
America! America! God mend thine ev’ry flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law!
O beautiful for heroes proved In liberating strife,
Who more than self their country loved,
And mercy more than life!
America! America! May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness,
And ev’ry gain divine!
O Beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam,
Undimmed by human tears!
America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!
Thank you Katharine Lee Bates for the lyrics that sums up the beautiful of our land. Where else can you have everything you could possible want in one country?
We are so lucky to be living in a country where we can do, be, believe and say whatever we want. I'm so grateful for those who have fought to instill and protect those liberties many take for granted everyday.
Today (and everyday) we fly our flag proudly and with care. We celebrate the freedoms that were fought and died for, and enjoy knowing that we are free to be and do whatever we want. I hope everyone has a joy filled, more importantly safe weekend, eating good food, watching fireworks and being with those you love.
Happy Birthday America!
